Philippine History, Philippine News Update 8 Comments »

NEW PHILIPPINE BILLS OR BANK NOTES 2010

Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines) has released last December 16, 2010 a redesign of the new Philippine Peso Bill. The design features some of the Philippines famous Filipinos and natural wonders. Sizes of the new Philippine bill design is still the same as before which is 160mm x 66mm.

There were some errors discovered on the new design. Some of the errors was the Batanes was excluded from the Philippine map on the reverse of all denominations, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean Underground River on the reverse of the 500-peso bill was on the wrong location and the Tubbataha Reef on the 1000-peso bill. The beak and feathers of the blue-naped parrot on the 500-peso bill also has the wrong color. Including the scientific names of the animals featured on the reverse sides of all banknotes or Philippine bills were incorrectly rendered as well.

What do you think of the new Philippine Peso Bill Design?

The Four Honor Guards during Cory Aquino’s Funeral

Philippine Cebu, Philippine Celebrities, Philippine Country Site Updates, Philippine Government, Philippine History, Philippine Metro Manila, Philippine News Update, Philippine Politics No Comments »

Last August 5, 2009, Philippines four honor guards stood for more than 9 hours (snappy, straight, no food and water, no rest even through rainy day, bumps, dryness on the road and inclines) to escort Former President Cory Aquino’s remains from the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros to the Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque City, which is a 23 kilometer route. The four honor guards boarded the truck at past 11 a.m. when police generals, acting as pallbearers, carried Cory Aquino’s wooden casket out of the cathedral after the more than two-hour Requiem Mass.

They got off the truck past 8 p.m. when they reached Manila Memorial Park where the revered People Power heroine was laid to rest next to her martyred husband, former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. The honor guards were given the highest honor and commendation and a cash of 25,000 pesos each. What they did seem ordinary to us. But try standing up for hours on the truck without moving and you’d see how difficult it was. It’s harder than walking, it’s harder than running, stand in one position for eight hours is a very tough job, however, they quietly did their job.
