Swine flu is common in swine or pigs and rare in humans. People who work with swine or pigs, especially people with intense exposures, are at risk of catching swine influenza if the swine carry a strain able to infect humans. However, these strains rarely circulate between humans as SIV rarely mutates into a form able to pass easily from human to human. In humans, the symptoms of swine flu are similar to those of influenza and of influenza-like illness in general, namely chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness and general discomfort.
Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada was arrested April 29, 2009, Wednesday by a police team following an order issued by a local court the day before being arrested for perjury and would definitely not post bail. Lozada, the whistleblower in the alleged jarring national broadband network agreement with China’s ZTE Corp.(NBN-ZTE), has been staying in La Salle Greenhills in San Juan under the protection of nuns.
February 14, 2009, United States lawmakers are praised by President Arroyo for correcting a "historic wrong" by maintaining a provision in the $787 billion stimulus bill, granting recognition and lump sum benefits to Filipino World War II veterans. The stimulus bill included an eight-page provision that grants benefits to Filipino WW II veterans, amounting to $198 million.
