The melamine chemical has been held responsible for the deaths of four children and for sickening of 53,000 children in one of China's worst product safety rumor ever resulting from drinking milk products with melamine. Melamine is generally an industrial chemical used in coatings and laminates, wood adhesives, fabric coatings, ceiling tiles and flame retardants, making plastics. However, when added to watered-down milk, it makes it appear to be richer in protein. Health experts say ingesting melamine chemical can lead to kidney stones, urinary tract ulcers, and eye and skin irritation. It also robs infants of much-needed nutrition.

At least 11 countries have banned imports of milk products. Places and countries that banned Chinese dairy products are Burundi, Gabon and Tanzania have joined governments closer to China including Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia.

Testing of some of those has already proven negative.
